Alginate

Sterile, highly conformable, and absorbent primary wound care dressings for use on moderately to heavily exudating wounds. Tegagen HI alginate dressing (high integrity) and Tegagen HG alginate dressing (high gelling) are available in a variety of sizes.

A novel honey-based dressing for lightly to moderately to heavily exuding wounds. The dressing contains 95% Active Leptospermum Honey, can be used to cover a shallow wound or fill a deep wound, and provides a moist environment conducive to wound healing. Active Leptospermum Honey has been shown to have several properties which assist in promoting an optimal healing environment. It has a low pH, and has been shown to help lower the overall wound pH, which is beneficial to chronic wounds. The honey is also highly osmotic, which assists in debridement and keeping the wound bed clean. This non-toxic dressing can be used as a cornerstone for wound bed preparation and throughout all the phases of wound healing.

These soft, white sterile dressings absorb moderate to large amounts of wound drainage and may help control minor bleeding. Alginate ropes can be used to fill or pack the dead space in a wound. Algicell® dressings are designed to keep their form, allowing for easy and trauma-free removal, while maintaining a moist wound environment through its ability to gel upon contact with wound fluids. Does not contain natural rubber latex.

This product can be used under compression bandages. Because it contains alginate, it assists in supporting the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds. Suitable for use, under medical supervision on wounds that are critically colonized. Indicated for external use only. Absorbs up to 45% more than market leading silver hydrofiber dressing. High fiber strength allows removal in one piece. Rapid and sustained antimicrobial effect. Sustained silver release up to 4 days.

Made of fast-gelling, high mannuronic acid fibers from calcium alginate, which is extracted and purified from a natural, renewable source - seaweed. When exudate comes into contact with the dressing, it forms a hydrophilic gel that remains in intimate contact with the wound surface, helping to create and maintain a moist wound environment.
